I have always had a great passion and love for the sea, sailing, boating and seamanship, it is with this passion that I started boating at the age of 12. One of my earliest learnings was that a good skipper does not have to know all about navigation, maritime traffic rules, safety regulations, first aid and medical care, electronics and meteorology – he has to be a master of it all! So I made this my life goal. As the years passed, I realized that this was only roughly 10% of a Skipper’s job and ability. What sets me apart is the other 90%, my ability to understand people’s “wants and needs”, to recognize their mood, to organize all segments of the trip – from making provisions to the route, to controlling situations that may arise, and to provide customers with a good time. I am proud to have 40 years of sea time experience, with the last 10 years on over 9 meter boats, private boats and charters.

DECKHAND
My passion for water begun when I stated to swim at age 7 in Malawi. This passion lead to fishing on canoe’s when I was 11. I realised then that I wanted to be out at sea, fishing, so I decided to moved to South Africa. I always wanted to work in the heart of the fishing industry, and being as a Deckhand, as this position allowed me to do so. On a day-to-day basis I undertake many duties around the vessel, including preparing the deck area for a fishing trip, handeling all fishing equipment, as well as storing, storing and cleaning the catch. I am fully trained on the use, maintenance and storage of all fishing gear on board Hannah. I now have 9 years of sea time and deckhand experience, which has taught me to work well under harsh conditions, and have good practical ability.
